hours per week) Community Prison Links Worker.
ROLE:
The Community Prison Links Worker will work with people affected by
addiction within the prison system and support their transition back
into their community.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Minimum Level 7 in Addiction Studies / Social Care / Work or
related field
* Minimum 2 years? experience working in the field ? post
qualification
* Full Driver?s License
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
* Experience of working with offenders / ex-offenders, substance
misusers.
* Experience of one to one work, family work and group work with
addiction as the focus.
* Experience of working from a Community Development model,
including building relationships with key stakeholders.
* Knowledge of the criminal justice system / Irish Prison Service
* Counselling skills
MAIN DUTIES:
The Community Prison worker will work as a wider CASP team and will be
expected to carry out the following areas of work:
* To assist and support people from Clondalkin entering or leaving a
place of detention in setting realistic goals regarding their
substance misuse and their training requirements.
* To develop and maintain individual holistic care plans in
conjunction with service users. Care plans will address needs of
service users and set future goals as identified in 1:1 sessions, in
conjunction with other services within prisons.
* To assist service users to identify appropriate training,
education and employment options suitable to their needs during their
incarceration and to plan for their release and provide post release
support.
* To provide post release support in order to raise awareness among
service users on possible progressions such as education, training,
employment and CASP supports such as group work, counselling and
holistic therapies on offer, once they are released.
* To keep written and computer records of all 1:1 meetings and any
other communications that have taken place on behalf of service users.
* To build a resource of networks within the prison system and
externally to enable the offender or ex offender to have the best
options available for change.
* To liaise with service users? families as deemed appropriate and
to refer them to appropriate services as required.
* To work in partnership with the Probation Service (Prison and the
Community), Criminal Justice Agencies and locally based support
services in order to develop and agree a structure for communication
that will avoid duplication and ensure that the service is operating
under an agreed set of protocols.
* To continue to build and further develop effective links with
organisations at local and /or regional level.
* To work effectively as a team member in order to develop and
fulfil the aims and objectives and the policies and procedures of CASP
and to promote and further develop awareness of the services of CASP
to our target group and to the wider community.
* To attend supervision internally and to attend case management
meetings and project worker team meetings, as required by your line
manager.
* When required, attend continued professional development / staff
training, as identified by management.
* The worker will be expected to liaise and work with existing
support structures such as CASP, the Probation Service, treatment
centres and locally based addiction support services.
* To carry out other relevant duties that may be assigned by the
management committee.
ADMINISTRATION
* To produce / prepare progress reports, annual documents and other
documents which may be required.
* As part of a team, to plan, develop, monitor and evaluate
appropriate programmes.
* To maintain professional records in relation to work with clients.
* To ensure the salesforce data base is updated daily in relation to
Community Prison Links clients.
* To implement the policies of the management committee.
* To attend regular meetings.
Garda vetting will be required before the successful candidate will be
